Week 4ish

It's been a bit over two weeks since my last appointment, so I'm allowed to start putting weight on my foot now, when in the boot and/or on crutches. I'm glad to see that even though I just started putting weight on my foot this week, as long as I'm wearing the boot and a shoe that has roughly the same height of heel, I can hobble around okay without crutches. It will still take some time to get back to normal walking and activity, but at least there's decent progress. My foot has been somewhat sore the last few days, probably because I've gone about four weeks without walking on it and suddenly I'm using it again. I've been trying to limit how much I walk for now so I don't do too much at once, and resting and elevating it when I can.

I've got another appointment in two weeks, so we'll see what the doctor says then. I'm hoping with how much mobility I'm regaining that I won't have to worry about going to physical therapy. I'm sure it helped that I was only in the cast for two weeks and have been in the boot since then, so I've been able to take the boot off and move my foot and leg around to prevent more atrophy in my leg. I still have a decent amount of muscle strength in it, so hopefully walking normally will happen sooner rather than later.
